October In Reveiw

I apologize for not blogging the last few weeks, they have been absolutely crazy with all of our activities and just an emotional time for all of us.

So, I will recap the month of October as best I can and promise to do a better job of blogging for November and the rest of the school year!

In October, Father Tom visited PreK and took time to learn all about us an our families.  He was a little overwhelmed with 30 something little ones all trying to get his attention at the same time!

October held our school wide fundraiser for the year, Boosterthon!  This year's theme was Camp High Five that centered all around showing sportsmanship and kindness through out our daily actions and activites.

During the week students learned that:

One of our favorite parts of the week was the kick off pep rally with the other students from grades K-5.  It was so fun getting to dance and learn all about Boosterthon with so many other classes!

The kids really enjoyed the two camp counselors Tiny Taylor and Jammin' Jake.

They especially loved when Jammin' Jake came to recess with us one day and played Simon Says.

Jammin' Jake and Tiny Taylor even posed for a picture for the blog during one of their daily visits!

Here we are all lined up and ready to run!

In October we spent one week discussing our families.  Thank you so much for the wonderful pictures you sent in.  The kids thoroughly enjoyed sharing the pictures with their classmates and making their own family portraits.

Our decoration that hung from the ceiling for the month were purple witch hats.  Can you spot Mrs. Baker's example?  :)

Another one of my favorite crafts for the month is when we learned about the number 5 and made our 5 Little Pumpkins picture.  It's always so fun to complete activities in the whole group setting and see how each child takes the instruction and makes the craft their own!

When we learned about the number 8 we made spider hats because spiders have 8 legs.  Here are your sweet spiders...

and your silly spiders!

The week we learned all about the letter F we had our own Fancy Day.  This is one of my favorite group of pictures, all of our Hoots who participated were so adorable!

One week we learned all about different types of houses, our needs within the house, our neighborhood,  and how the mail works to deliver pieces to our homes.  This is the week we made our own post cards and mailed them to ourselves.  Here are a few of the great post cards we made!

October was all about pumpkins.  Did you know pumpkins can float?!

Before we carved our class Jack-O-Lantern we all painted our own.  I just love all of the personality in these pumpkins!

Once our class voted and it was determined that our class Jack-O-Lantern would have a scary face, we began to carve our pumpkin. The insides were "icky" but some of our classmates were brave enough to help scoop out the guts!

In addition to carving our pumpkin we ate pumpkin treats throughout the week.  I was extremely surprised when our entire class enjoyed pumpkin muffins, pumpkin dip, and baked pumpkin seeds!

Happy Halloween from PreK B!

On Monday before Halloween we enjoyed our Pumpkin Hunt.  Huge thanks to all parents who volunteered their time and provided supplies for the hunt, it was a huge success!

The last week of October is National Red Ribbon Week.  We learned all about being drug free for a healthy future.  In Red Ribbon tradition we all tied a red ribbon with our name onto the fence as a promise to ourselves, our family, and our friends to live a drug free life.

Hope you enjoyed our month in review and are looking forward to a wonderful November and Thanksgiving season like we are!

Hello, October!

Last week we welcomed the month of October, I can't believe how fast time is flying by!

We started decorating our room for October and Halloween by creating my favorite seasonal candy in stained glass form.  Don't these candy corns look good enough to eat?!

We continued making our festive decorations with Big Green Monsters!  After reading the story we made our own version of the monster, but PreK B is not afraid of the Big Green Monster.  Here's proof, look at all of these smiling faces!

Last week our curriculum's theme dealt with helping.  We read three different versions of The Little Red Hen to see which characters helped and if Little Red Hen shared her yummy treats.  Did she share the pizza, bread, or cake? Here's a hint: She shared two of her three baked goodies.

To end our week we made pictures of Little Red Hen growing her wheat!

Howdy from the Hoots of PreK B!

Last week may have only had 4 days but they were filled with all things C!

We made silly cats for our alphabet book, learned about clean eating and keeping our bodies clean through proper diet and hygiene, and Thursday we got do dress as Cowboys!

Look how adorable your Hoots were!

Thursday brought about the close of our study of apples.  We made our final apple treats, apple krispies!

Matilda was super excited for her treat.  :)

Thursday afternoon we had a pep rally to cheer on the football team In prpreparation for their game on Saturday.  Our cowboy attire attracted a lot of attention and many complements!

We hope you enjoyed your three day weekend!
