Octopus Stew

This past week we learned all about the letter O!

We kicked off our week by making Octopus Stew for snack on Tuesday!  Everyone was extremely curious to know what octopus tasted and looked like...

Luckily, Octopus Stew is made from hot dogs cut to look like octopus!

The octopus start off pretty small,

but as they cook they grow and their tentacles start to curl!

Our happy octopus were served with a side of gold fish and ocean water, how fitting!

Everyone loved the Octopus Stew!

On Wednesday we had a special visitor who came to tell us all about the Book Fair that would be held during Catholic Schools Week...Clifford the Big Red Dog!

We all loved Clifford, well almost all of us!

On Friday we used play dough to review our letters and numbers.  Play dough is a wonderful manipulative that helps strengthen then muscles in our hands and helps improve our fine motor skills.  Who knew having a little fun could be so beneficial!?

Can you guess one of the words we spelled?
Did you guess OCTOPUS?!

Here are just a few more pictures of us having fun with play dough!

One of our big projects of the week was decorating our door for Catholic Schools Week.  The kids did such a wonderful job pairing their mouse's outfit patterns that we decided to take up our entire window.  Look at our cutting skills, they have come so far since the first day of school, I am so proud!

Due to so many kiddos being out sick since we have been back from Christmas Break, the last photo of my post has taken me three weeks to capture!  Last Friday we were all back together and I was able to take our "first day" picture for the 2nd semester.

We made sure to get back in the same order as our picture from the first day of school to show how much we have grown and changed!

While discussing the reason for taking a new photo, the kids asked if we could include Mallory's framed picture in our shot since she was in our picture on the first day of school.  I am blessed by these kids' reminders of the joys of Heaven and our special angel.  We love and miss you, sweet girl!
