What a wonderful first week we had back together! Although the temperatures were too cold for us to enjoy recess outside, they lent themselves perfectly to our discussion of winter and all of the wonderful animals we can see and activities we can participate in!
So join us as we...
Our letter study resumed this week with the letter M. Our alphabet journal page was of a post mailbox with the red flag and they turned out so cute!
One activity we can participate in in winter is making snowmen!
The class' favorite winter animal we learn about was the penguin so we did a whole group guided drawing. They all turned out so unique, just like each of my wonderful kiddos!
This week our literacy focus was on the story The Mitten by Jan Brett so we made beautiful multicolored mittens for our class window.
We also practiced our lacing skills on large white mittens just like Nikki had in the story. Then we placed all of our animals in side!
This week we celebrated Henry's 5th birthday, he and George are Christmas Eve babies!
We also celebrated Jonathan's 1/2 birthday!
Sometimes it's tough getting all of your school friends to come to your party when your birthday's in the summer (having an August birthday I can relate!) so celebrating Jonathan's 1/2 birthday allowed him to share the fun with all of his friends!
On the 6th we celebrated the Epiphany with a visit from the 3 Wise Men! They read a special blessing and sprinkled Holy Water in the 4 corners of our classroom. The kids loved having royalty come and visit them!
I'm so glad to be back with all of my kiddos, I missed them over break! Hoping for a wonderful spring semester!
Here's a fun picture of Matilda and Benny enjoying our new house keeping outfits and toys. Thank you Henry, George and Ms. Ashley for sharing them with us!
