On our first day together we colored our own self portraits, they turned out great!
After learning about our school and classroom rules we read the book David Goes to School and made our own Davids to hang around the room.
We had so much fun making new friends while playing on the PreK playground!
Austin from PreK B was excited to meet the Austin from PreK A!
Julian played a game as a jaguar with boys from PreK A.
Ollie, Ava, Anna, Madison, Taylor, and Finley loved playing house!
Samantha, Savannah, Mary Millicent, and Sarah Kate taking a break from playing tag.
Austin and Ian are already great buddies!
Sully from PreK A with Tyer had fun seeing who's shoes "ran faster"!
Cameron and Dawson Chloe from PreK A loved climbing the ladder up to the slide!
Alexander and James from PreK A chauffeured everyone around the playground.
Friday morning we had our religion upstairs in Parish Hall while the upper grades were in Mass. Mrs. Straessle read The Kissing Hands, a story about Chester the raccoon who was afraid to go to school for the first time. With a little encouragement from his mom and a reminder kiss on his palm Chester ended up having a great first day of school.
After our religion lesson we got to play in the gym!!!
We also got to see the church where we will begin attending mass later this fall,
the front office with Mrs. Korte and Mrs. Suski,
Mrs. Dobbins' and Mrs. Handloser's offices,
and the library!
Friday was also the first day we got to play in centers!
Sloan loved cleaning in house keeping!
Sloane and Dawson in House Keeping
Taylor and Cameron in Math
Mary Millicent and Samantha in Science
Sarah Kate and Tyler in Art
Ian and Julian in Puzzles and Games
Austin and Savannah in Listening
Ava and Anna in Writing
Alexander in Blocks
Here are a few extra pictures just for fun:
Doctor Dawson and Officer Cameron!
Mary Millicent and Ava with their matching braided pig tails!
We ended our wonderful week together with a Kissing Hands craft, making our own Chester raccoon to help us remember that school is not a scary place, but sometimes a little reminder from mom (or dad!) can help ease our minds and hearts.
Happy (one day early) 5th Birthday, Savannah!
I hope everyone has a fun weekend. Don't forget to spend some time being silly! :)
-Mrs. Baker
