In preparation for Thanksgiving, we spent the week learning all about turkeys and all of our lessons in each subject involved turkeys in some way!
We began our week with making our Thankful Turkey. Each feather has each student's name on it and what they are thankful for.
After learning lots of cool facts about turkeys, we made our own to decorate our classroom.
Did you know that turkeys roost in trees and that the turkey was almost our national bird?!
We gave our turkeys lots of feathers using red, orange, and yellow in an ABC pattern.
Two legs.
Two eyes.
One beak.
And one snood (the fleshy object over a male's beak)!
After reading the funny story Turkey Trouble, the story of a turkey's escape from being the main dish at Thanksgiving dinner on his farm, we decided we needed to try and save the rest of the turkeys!
First we made our turkey's faces.
Then gave them 5 feathers. Did you know that real turkeys have 5000-6000 feathers?!
Then we wrote what we should eat for Thanksgiving instead of turkey!
Save a turkey, eat more....

I was so impressed with everyone's penmanship!
Our next turkey activity was a guided drawing of a turkey for our place mats.
Turkeys need a head,
a body,
legs,
and lots of feathers!
I hope you all enjoyed seeing your child's drawing, they all had so much personality!
Our math focus of the week was reviewing numbers 0-10, so of course we had to incorporate turkeys and count their feathers! We have some counting and coloring pros in PreK B, look at us go!
Our final turkey activity of the week was a turkey hunt! After each student found their turkey around the room they had to use the appropriate positional word to describe the turkey's location to the rest of the class.
